The definition of agritourism is visiting a wor=

in a general sense so we thought it might be appropriate to update you just=
a
bit on some of our activities. First, the harvest is just about completed. =
We
put all of our first cut grass in the silo in very early June and fed it
through the summer. With thirty acres of new seeding alfalfa plus the red
clover, alfalfa and trefoil from the past, our haylage=

averaged better than 17% available protein with butterfat depression in Jul=
y,
August and September due to a very low fiber level in the total ration. Des=

our best efforts to solve the problem by using sodium bicarbonate, the test
remained low. This is certainly a problem when you’re feeding 24% pro=
tein
alfalfa with an ADF level of 23% along with high moisture shelled corn. It
constantly amazes me how much milk we can make from quality forage with a
minimum of grain.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'> Because we =
had an
excellent corn crop we put up about 300 tons of corn silage more than we had
